Shajaat has been with us for more than 10 years and during this period he has worked right across the housing sector, including in business analysis, social rent, private rent. He has also worked for managing agents and leasehold.

In November 2022, Shajaat took on a new challenge by going into Specialist Housing and he hopes his experiences along the way will put him in good stead.

He said: “I have been fortunate enough to work at many levels within my roles. As an analyst, I was tasked with managing performance within lettings and improving processes as well as managing the complete process, from end of tenancy to letting a property.

“With the managing agent team, I was the link between the freeholder, managing agent, A2Dominion and the leaseholder. All the roles were varied and have given me the experience and insight to really flourish within Specialist Housing.”

Shajaat’s main role lies within housing management, leasehold and catering, but for the last few months, he also found himself temporarily managing A2Dominion’s Domestic Abuse service – an area he has some expertise in.

He said: “I have a great interest in this area having a background in law and knowledge around honour-based violence. Whilst I was only covering until a replacement was appointed, I did go out to the refuges and see all the hard work the team do to support the women and men who come through the service.

“A highlight for me was doing a shift with the Thames Valley Police and used my knowledge and experience when encountering a reported domestic violence incident.”

Shajaat will now shift his focus back onto housing management, leasehold and catering, and hopes to use his transferable skills to ensure the lettings process is as easy as possible for our customers.
