Local councillors and community enjoy Crawley’s first Big Impact Day
01 May 2024
Customers attended the first ‘Big Impact Day’ at Geraint Thomas House South, Crawley.
Cllr Brenda and A2Dominion colleagues
Our Community Investment team organise these events throughout the year across various residential schemes. The events provide customers with an opportunity to meet staff members and report any issues they may have in their homes.
Councillor Brenda Burgess and Councillor Atif Nawaz took the time to also visit the event and to speak to colleagues and customers.
Cllr Brenda said: “I thought you were all amazing and I was so taken by Julie Brooker, Communities Partner, who was telling me how she reaches out to young people. We could certainly do with more like her in the community. I want to thank her for all that she does. Keep up the good work.”
Our Charity of the Year, UKHarvest, joined the event too, bringing supplies of rescued fruit, vegetables and pastries. They shared information on the services they provide and volunteering opportunities they have available to the community.
Donna Martin, Community Engagement and Events Manager at UKHarvest, said: “It was a great opportunity to meet A2Dominion residents, promote our WSCC funded Crawley Community Food Hub and volunteering opportunities, and share quality surplus food with those who may be struggling at Geraint Thomas House South.
The food went down a treat and it was lovely to engage with local families to hear their stories, many of whom are being impacted by the cost-of-living crisis.
A2Dominion and their maintenance contractors did a wonderful job of supporting the residents with repairs on the day and providing a listening ear to resolve some of the deeper issues that residents are facing.”
Our Community Investment team put on these events regularly, ensuring that our customers have an opportunity to reach out and get help where needed.
