Hackney scheme revives a former industrial setting
The awards were presented to A2Dominion in front of an audience of 1,700 housebuilding professionals at a ceremony in London on 18 November 2016.

Comprising of 327 one, two, three and four-bedroom modern apartments, City Wharf revives a former industrial setting in the London Borough of Hackney, overlooking the adjacent Wenlock Basin.

Located on Wharf Road, the development benefits from the waterside setting whilst being close to the boutiques, theatres, pop up bars and café culture of Islington and Shoreditch.

City Wharf has been designed by Stephen Marshall Architects, its weathered steel façade and warehouse brick and timber features articulate the area’s past as a centre for timber production in the 1800s.

"The development has rejuvenated a barren industrial area into a vibrant community within the London Borough of Hackney."

Arranged across four buildings of varying heights, City Wharf provides commercial space, apartments for private sale, shared ownership, private rent and affordable rent.

Darrell Mercer, A2Dominion Chief Executive, said:

“We’re delighted City Wharf has won awards in both the Best Exterior Design and Best Apartment Scheme categories. The development has rejuvenated a barren industrial area into a vibrant community within the London Borough of Hackney. We’re committed to providing high quality housing for a variety of different tenures and City Wharf achieves this.”

This success at the WhatHouse? Awards follows City Wharf winning the Best Apartment Building category at last month’s Sunday Times British Home Awards.

A2Dominion completed 1,127 new homes last year and now manages more than 36,000 homes in London and the South East and plans to develop a further 4,500 by 2020. The Group offers high-quality sustainable homes for sale and shared ownership, available through its FABRICA by A2Dominion brand.
