The modern scheme on Paradise Street comprises of 30 fully-furnished contemporary apartments, with a mix of one and two-bedroom homes, as well as duplex apartments, to accommodate a range of living styles.

The design incorporates south facing balconies, roof terrace, garden spaces and cycle storage. Located in the West End area of the city, the development was granted planning permission by Oxford City Council (OCC) in 2019.

We worked closely with OCC to ensure the scheme compliments its historical and natural surroundings as the site lies close to Oxford Castle & Prison and mound.

Following the selection of Exel Construction, building work began on the private market rent apartments in 2021.

Simon Potts, Director of Land and Planning, said: “We’re delighted to complete this scheme and I’d like to thank all our partners for their hard work throughout this project.

“It’s great to see residents finally move in to this fantastic development, A2Dominion has a strong track record of providing high-quality new homes in Oxford and we look forward to delivering more in the future.”

David Thoroughgood, Managing Director at Exel Construction, said: “We’re really pleased to complete this city-centre project and bring more high-quality homes to Oxford.

“The team managed to overcome some challenges along the way, especially being in a prime city-centre location there was a lack of storage space for materials, however the site team lead by Steve Boddy did a great job and we are all very proud of the final product delivered to A2Dominion”

The development also features a decorative hanging bracket designed by award-winning blacksmith Melissa Cole. The picturesque ironwork incorporates a hanging shield with the name of the street hand-painted by fellow artist Mark Amis. This is complemented by two smaller pieces of art that form a link at the west and centre of the development.

The artwork takes inspiration from Oxford’s rich cultural surroundings and medieval ironwork street signs seen across Europe, to provide a striking visual element for residents and passers-by.
