The investment will be used to improve the local area and shared areas around the scheme for the residents.

Great Places to Live aims to develop and pilot new local services and funds improvements to a variety of A2Dominion neighbourhoods.

Newland Court will benefit from a new child’s play area with a jungle crossing and sandbox, modern geometric style landscaping, new pathways, plants and benches, and several new pergolas.

Saleh Mirza, A2Dominion’s Head of Environmental Services, said: “We’re hoping these improvements are going bring a breath of fresh air to Newland Court, meaning the residents can relax in the gardens and the community can continue to thrive. Great Places to Live is just one of the community programmes we have invested in to ensure that our schemes are continuously improved and maintained.”

Susan Slade, A2Dominion’s Head of Service Charges and Project Implementation – and the Project Manager for Great Places to Live – said: “This is a prime example of the great work our team is doing on the Great Places to Live programme and how it’s working to improve schemes that may need several improvements all at once.”

Local staff had surveyed the residents at Newland Court and the overwhelming request was for improvements to be made to the local area. For example, a key aspect of the refurbishment helped to make the community more secure by filling the gaps in the hedges and garden beds, and safer by adding more communal lighting.

Other improvements include creating a new secure and fully accessible patio area for residents to dry their clothes outside, as well as an allotment space for them to grow vegetables and herbs.

A2Dominion will also plant several trees for residents that will produce fresh fruit for residents to pick in the coming years.
