Celebrating International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women around the world. It is a great time to reflect on the efforts made by both women and men to help forge a more gender-balanced world.

A2Dominion has a number of women in senior roles leading the organisation. We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce through a number of initiatives and partnerships. This includes being a member of the Housing Diversity Network where A2Dominion staff have access to their mentoring programme.

Anne Waterhouse, A2Dominion’s Deputy Chief Executive, believes there are now more opportunities for women to grow in the sector. She said: “Shadowing and mentoring will help women explore a huge range of different roles and help enhance their careers. Believe in yourself and give it a go. Be confident to know that learning in a role is totally acceptable.”

Dawn Wightman, A2Dominion’s Director of Housing, believes there are plenty of challenges for both women and men in housing. Her career advice for everyone is: “If you think you can do it, you almost always can. Be curious, work hard and have some fun.”

Caroline Abomeli, A2Dominion’s Director of Communications, is a member of the Diversity and Inclusion Steering Board at A2Dominion helping to lead on some of our key initiatives. She said: “Too often we women short-change ourselves, thinking we must prove ourselves before going for the senior roles. Take risks, have confidence and everything else will follow.”

A2Dominion continues to champion diversity in the workplace, building a supportive framework for everyone to progress their careers.
