At the heart of the development, the Elmsbrook Local Centre proposes 38 new affordable homes, a community centre, a café and flexible space that could accommodate offices, retail and a nursery. External areas will connect the centre to the wider site using green spaces which enhance biodiversity and create a sense of place.

ADP are the architects of the local centre, providing environmental consultancy for the scheme to achieve a highly efficient, low energy and zero carbon design.

Steve Hornblow, A2Dominion’s Head of Special Projects (NW Bicester), said: “We are pleased to be working with ADP on the design of the Elmsbrook Local Centre, which will provide new homes and social spaces for the residents. It is important that we continue to invest in the infrastructure at NW Bicester to ensure that we have a sustainable development, with community spaces such as the local centre creating a social hub for residents of Elmsbrook.”

Craig Cullimore, ADP Director said: “ADP has signed up to the “Architects Declare”, a call to arms in response to the global threats to climate and biodiversity. Elmsbrook is an excellent example of where the client, engineers and ADP are converting aspirational statements into demonstrable action and have made environmental mitigation and enhancement key to the design solution. We have used our collective expertise to transform, delight and sustain this growing community.”

Elmsbrook, the multi-award winning first phase of the UK’s only eco-town, is being developed by A2Dominion and is located within the Oxford to Cambridge growth corridor. The overall scheme at NW Bicester will create up to 6000 highly energy efficient homes, new workplaces, schools and community facilities. The development supports residents in achieving a healthy lifestyle and wellbeing within this new community.
