From Trainees to Surveyors: Growing Talent at A2Dominion

We’re proud to celebrate the success of four colleagues – Mike Hampson, Rachel King, Moses Orji, and Matthew Riley – who have completed their HNC qualifications in Construction Management and are now fully qualified Surveyors at A2Dominion.
From Trainees to Surveyors
Trainee Surveyor Programme
Launched in 2023, our internal Trainee Surveyor Programme was part of our wider ‘Grow Your Own’ strategy to tackle the national shortage of qualified surveyors. The programme offered funded training and career development opportunities to colleagues across the business, with applicants selected for their diagnostic skills and passion for the role.

Over two years, the trainees balanced study, work, and personal commitments – supported by Senior Technical Manager Sean Frizell, who helped guide their development and boost their confidence.

Sean, a former trainee himself, said: “We’re still short of surveyors – the workforce is not getting any younger. These four candidates excelled in such a short time and it’s been great to see their progress. This has been an amazing, worthwhile scheme and I’d love to see it repeated.”

Each trainee had their own motivation for joining. Mike Hampson, formerly a Neighbourhood Officer, was looking for a new challenge. He said: "I’m grateful A2Dominion gave me the chance to gain qualifications and start my new career. I’m now looking forward to gaining more experience and hope to become a member of RICS in the future.”

For Moses Orji, the programme was deeply personal. He said: “After the tragic death of Awaab Ishak due to damp and mould, I realised I could help prevent similar incidents. This programme has changed my life – I finally feel settled in my career and confident about the future.”

Congratulations to all our newly qualified Surveyors – your hard work and dedication are an inspiration!
