A2Dominion receives permission for 400 canalside homes in Hayes

A2Dominion has been given the green light to build 400 new homes at Clayton Road in Hayes, Hillingdon. The development is next to the Grand Union Canal, opening this section of the waterfront to the public, as well as being close to the new nearby Hayes & Harlington Crossrail station for quick access to Central London.

Other major benefits of the scheme include opening up a large attractive space that was previously underused and the inclusion of around 1,400 sq m of commercial space in a desirable location.

The Hillingdon Council Planning Committee approved the scheme, designed by Assael Architecture, in a meeting on 8 December following extensive consultation with the Council.

The development has a particular focus on affordable family homes. Sixty-eight family homes are to be let at an affordable rent as part of over 110 homes marked for affordable housing – all in an area much sought-after by both local families and young professionals.

Sustainability is another key feature and sees the buildings fitted with features including electric car parking spaces, air source heat pumps and solar panels to help power the building through renewable energy.

Danny Lynch, Director of Land and Development at A2Dominion said: “It will be fantastic to open up this section of waterfront while creating urgently needed affordable family homes and places suitable for people just starting out on the property ladder.

“From the new canal side access to the attractive waterfront spaces and children’s play areas, this scheme will provide excellent homes and facilities both for local families and young professionals moving to the capital for the first time. It’s also a great source of pride that it’s been built with sustainability in mind.”

Overall, the scheme will be a mix of nine studio, 170 one-bed, 153 two-bed, 58 three-bed and 10 four-bed properties and includes a number of attractive parks, lawns, seating and landscaped gardens. This has all been designed in collaboration with the nearby Crown Trading Estate redevelopment to ensure a cohesive feel to the area.
