Residential property group A2Dominion, which is the lead developer for the first phase of NW Bicester, were presented with the CEEQUAL Excellent Award on 8 August by Ian Nicholson, CEEQUAL Director and Local Cllr Lynn Pratt, Lead Member for economy, regeneration and property at Cherwell District Council.

The highest possible award was given following an assessment by CEEQUAL against specific civil engineering standards, where Elmsbrook achieved a score of 81% and ‘Excellent’ overall.

Developed in 2003 by the Institution of Civil Engineer's Research & Development Enabling Fund, CEEQUAL assesses and recognises projects that make significant improvements to sustainability in civil engineering, infrastructure and landscaping.

NW Bicester is providing 393 highly efficient homes for existing and new residents of Bicester, built to be true zero-carbon. The design fosters a community that is vibrant, resilient and sustainable, and incorporates a school, district heating network and business centre.

“It is great to see a developer considering sustainability within their infrastructure to the same degree as the buildings. We are pleased to recognise this achievement in a CEEQUAL Excellent Award” said Ian Nicholson, Director CEEQUAL

Steve Hornblow, Head of Special Projects at A2Dominion, said: “We’re delighted to have our project recognised at such a high standard now the build on phases one and two are complete. This is testament to the hard work that has gone into creating this unique development that pioneers a new way of delivering sustainable communities.”

Sarah Hart, Principal Environmental Consultant at Arcadis said: “Achieving this prestigious award is due to the innovation of the design team and the desire of the client to achieve a truly exemplar development.”
